Google has introduced Gemini Enterprise, a sophisticated AI assistant designed to serve as a unified platform for businesses. This innovative solution empowers users to access and orchestrate AI agents, thereby automating a diverse range of work tasks. Replacing the previously launched Agentspace app, Gemini Enterprise also integrates enhanced enterprise search functionalities, enabling customers to access data across their organization’s various business applications.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, described Gemini Enterprise as the “new front door for every user to use AI in the workplace.” He emphasized its capability to allow users to interact with all their enterprise data, search for information, and deploy agents to perform numerous tasks on their behalf. The platform marks a significant step in making advanced AI accessible and practical for everyday business operations.

Core Functionality and Advanced AI Integration

Gemini Enterprise features a familiar chat interface, mirroring Google’s existing Gemini AI assistant, making it intuitive for users. It leverages Google’s powerful Gemini large language models and provides access to the company’s latest generative AI media models, including Imagen, Veo, and Gemini 2.5 Flash, also known as “nano banana.” This integration ensures that businesses have access to cutting-edge AI capabilities for various creative and analytical tasks.

Through this chat interface, business users can effortlessly discover, build, and interact with a wide array of available agents. These agents fall into several categories, encompassing Google’s own “core” agents like NotebookLM and Deep Research. New additions include the recently launched Code Assist agent, with upcoming Data Science and Customer Engagement Suite agents also on the horizon. Furthermore, third-party developers such as Box, Salesforce, and ServiceNow have created agents accessible through Gemini Enterprise, alongside custom agents built from scratch using Google Vertex.

A key feature for customization is Google’s visual no-code Agent Designer tool, currently available in preview. This tool empowers users to construct and configure their own agents directly within Gemini Enterprise, democratizing agent creation for non-developers. For instance, a “campaigns agent” can be configured to manage an entire marketing campaign by coordinating multiple specialized agents. These integrated agents can automate tasks such as identifying market trends, conducting competitor analysis, generating marketing copy, creating videos and images, drafting communications, and performing inventory checks, illustrating the platform’s comprehensive automation potential.

Enterprise Search and Data Security

Beyond agent orchestration, Gemini Enterprise functions as a powerful enterprise search tool. This capability allows users to locate information stored across an organization’s entire ecosystem of enterprise systems. This includes both Google’s proprietary products and third-party applications, provided the necessary permissions are granted. The system ensures that responses generated by Gemini Enterprise are accurately grounded in organizational data, drawing from ERP and CRM applications, enterprise documents, databases, and other critical sources.

To simplify the integration process, Google offers several “packaged connectors” designed to link Gemini Enterprise with various external systems. These connectors facilitate seamless connections to platforms such as Box, Salesforce, and Microsoft Teams, as highlighted by Kurian. Mike Leone, practice director for data, analytics, and AI at Omdia’s Enterprise Strategy Group, praised Google Cloud’s strategy. He noted that by ensuring agents are grounded in unique organizational data and connected to critical business applications, Google Cloud is effectively tackling the architectural hurdle that many organizations encounter. Leone emphasized that this approach “solves integration headaches before they even begin,” providing a robust foundation for AI adoption.

A central governance framework within Gemini Enterprise allows administrators to manage and monitor all agents deployed across their organization. This ensures oversight and control over AI operations, which is crucial for maintaining data integrity and operational efficiency. Furthermore, Google’s Model Armor is integrated into Gemini Enterprise, providing an essential layer of security. This feature screens user prompts to protect against risks such as prompt injections and potential data leakage, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to secure AI deployment.

Market Positioning and Future Outlook

The launch of Gemini Enterprise signifies the reintroduction of a premium AI add-on for Google Workspace customers. This follows Google’s previous decision to include its Gemini AI assistant and various AI features, such as summarization and text generation, in applications like Gmail and Docs for Workspace customers at no additional charge, albeit with a simultaneous increase in the overall subscription price. This new offering positions Gemini Enterprise as a dedicated, advanced solution for businesses seeking deeper AI integration and automation.

Google has outlined several pricing tiers for Gemini Enterprise. The Standard and Plus editions will be available at $30 per seat per month, while the Business edition will cost $21 per seat per month. The Business version is slated to roll out to customers starting October 10. Information regarding the availability of the Standard and Plus editions has not yet been released. The introduction of Gemini Enterprise comes at a time when many business software vendors are actively integrating AI agent builder and orchestration tools into their product portfolios. This competitive landscape includes offerings such as Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio, Atlassian’s Rovo, and Asana’s AI Teammate. OpenAI has also recently announced a suite of tools for developing AI agents based on its ChatGPT models. Additionally, specialized agent orchestration tools like n8n, Make, and Airflow are also part of this evolving market.

Mike Leone observed that the market as a whole has entered a high-stakes race, with every major player pursuing agentic AI orchestration. He stated that this trend reflects a recognition that autonomous and intelligent systems represent the next significant leap in productivity. Google’s distinct strength in this competitive arena lies in its ability to assist businesses in securely scaling agentic systems, which often presents a major impediment to widespread adoption. Leone highlighted Google’s core differentiation as its strategic decision to act as a centralized “single pane of glass” for security, auditability, and visualization of all AI agents, providing a crucial advantage in the enterprise AI space.

However, Google Cloud faces the challenge of ensuring clarity for customers navigating its extensive AI portfolio. Leone noted that the sheer variety of product names, services, and tiers within their AI ecosystem could create unnecessary friction for users. He advised that if Gemini Enterprise is positioned as the definitive entry point to a customer’s agentic AI future, Google Cloud must execute a strategy that eliminates potential customer confusion. This approach would maximize adoption by making the path to scaled, trusted AI as clear and straightforward as possible, ensuring that businesses can fully leverage the advanced capabilities offered by Gemini Enterprise.
